How will the sinful Muslim take his book of deeds on the Day of Resurrection?

How will the sinful Muslim take his book of deeds on the Day of Resurrection?
When the books of deeds fly (to people’s hands on the Day of Resurrection), will the one who takes it in his right hand never enter Hell at all? And will the one who takes it in his left hand never enter Paradise at all? How will the people of Paradise who will be punished first in Hell take their books?.

Praise be to Allaah.

The Qur’aan and Sunnah indicate that the people will take
their books, which contain the record of their deeds, on the Day of
Resurrection. Some will take their books in their right hands and some
will take their books in their left hands from behind their backs.

Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right
hand will say: ‘Here! read my Record!

20. ‘Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!’

21. So he shall be in a life, well‑pleasing.

22. In a lofty Paradise,

23. The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at
hand.

24. Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on
before you in days past!

25. But as for him who will be given his Record in his
left hand, will say: ‘I wish that I had not been given my Record!

‘And that I had never known how my Account is!

27. ‘Would that it had been my end (death)!

28. ‘My wealth has not availed me;

29. ‘My power (and arguments to defend myself) have gone
from me!’

30. (It will be said): ‘Seize him and fetter him;

31. Then throw him in the blazing Fire.

32. ‘Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is
seventy cubits!’

33. Verily, he used not to believe in Allaah, the Most
Great”

[al-Haaqqah 69:19-33]

“Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right
hand,

8. He surely, will receive an easy reckoning,

9. And will return to his family in joy!

10. But whosoever is given his Record behind his back,

11. He will invoke (for his) destruction,

12. And he shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste
its burning.

13. Verily, he was among his people in joy!

14. Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to
Us)!”

[al-Inshiqaaq 84:7-14]

These verses indicate
that the believer who is destined for Paradise will take his book in his
right hand, and that the kaafir who is doomed to Hell will take his book in
his left hand, from behind his back.

The evidence that those who take their books in their left
hands are the kaafirs is the verses in which Allaah says:

“Verily, he used not to believe in Allaah, the Most Great”

[al-Haaqqah 69:33]

“Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to
Us)!”

[al-Inshiqaaq 84:14]

i.e., he thought that he would never return to Allaah.

This is also indicated by the verse in which Allaah says
(interpretation of the meaning):

“But those who disbelieved in Our Ayaat (proofs,
evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), they are those on the
Left Hand (the dwellers of Hell)”

[al-Balad 90:19]

Al-Qurtubi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in his
Tafseer (20/65): i.e., those who will take their books in their left
hands. End quote.

This is a clear statement
that taking the book in the left hand is something that is limited to the
kuffaar.

Undoubtedly the obedient believer who will be saved from
punishment, will take his book in his right hand. This is indicated by the
context of the verses. The simple reckoning will be merely showing his deeds
without discussing them. If a person’s deeds are discussed he will be
punished or doomed to Hell, as is narrated from the Prophet (peace and
blessings of Allaah be upon him). Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 2172; Muslim,
2876.

This is also indicated by the report narrated by al-Bukhaari
(2441), Muslim (2768) and Ibn Maajah (183) from Safwaan ibn Muhriz
al-Maazini who said: Whilst I was walking with Ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be
pleased with him), holding his hand, a man came up to him and said: “What
did you hear the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be
upon him) say about al-najwa (the secret conversation that Allaah
will have with His slaves on the Day of Resurrection)?” He said: “I heard
the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)
say: ‘Allaah will draw the believer close to Him and He will screen him,
then He will say: “Do you admit such and such a sin? Do you admit such and
such a sin?” And he will say: “Yes, O Lord.” Then when he has admitted his
sins, and thinks that he is doomed, (Allaah) will say: “I concealed them for
you in the world, and I forgive you for them today.” Then he will be given
the book of his good deeds [Ibn Maajah adds: In his right hand]. As for the
kaafirs and the hypocrites, they will be called before all people. Those are
the ones who told lies about Allaah.’”

As for the sinners among those who believed in Tawheed, who
will enter Hell and then be brought forth from it, there is a difference of
scholarly opinion concerning them. Some scholars say that they will take
their books in their right hands and some say that they will take their
books in their left hands.

Al-Safaareeni (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: The kaafir
will be given his book in his left hand from behind his back, and the sinful
believer will be given his book in his left hand from in front of him, and
the obedient believer will be given his book in his right hand from in front
of him. Al-Maawirdi was certain that what is well known is that the (Muslim)
evildoer who dies without having repented from his evildoing will take his
book in his right hand, then he narrated an opinion which suggests that we
should not discuss this matter and said: No one says that he will take it in
his left hand.

Yoosuf ibn ‘Umar narrated that the Maalikis differed
concerning sinners among those who believe in Tawheed. It was said that they
will take their books in their right hands, and it was said that they will
take them in their left hands.

With regard to the view
that they will take their books in their right hands, it was said that they
will take them before they enter the Fire, and that will be a sign that they
will not abide therein forever. And it was said that they will take them
after they are brought out of the Fire. And Allaah knows best. End quote.

From Lawaami’ al-Anwaar al-Bahiyyah, 2/183

Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) was
asked: With regard to a believer who sins, will he take his book in his
right hand or in his left hand? He replied: He will take it in his right
hand. End quote.

From al-As’ilah al-Mulhaqah bi Sharh al-Safaareeniyyah,
p. 500.

It seems – and Allaah
knows best – that no one will take his book in his left hand except the
kaafir, as is apparent from the verses quoted above.

What the Muslim should do is to strive hard to do acts of
obedience and worship, and to do good deeds, so that he will be among those
who are given their books in their right hands. May Allaah make us among
them.

And Allaah knows best.

Learn holy Quran online which it self states in it that only those who are learn quran and pure should touch the holy text: This is indeed a Quran in Arabic in a book well-guarded, which none shall touch but those who are clean (56:77-79).  One should make formal ablutions before handling or Quran reading and this the quran tutor should tell in his quran teaching when quran for kids lessons are going on. After intercourse or menstrual bleeding one should not touch the holy Quran or do quran recitation and also not do quran memorization until after bathing non-Muslim should not handle the sacred text, but may listen to Quran online or read quran translation or exegesis. With all these things in mind when one is not reading or reciting holy Quran it should be closed and stored in nice and clean place, it should never be placed on floor or in a bathroom and Muslim should focus on reading quran the tajweed quran and its rules with a proper institute.

What are the questions that a person will be asked on the Day of Resurrection?

What are the questions that a person will be asked on the Day of Resurrection?
Could u please tell us relating the 'Day of judgement' it's tortures, the questions that wud be asked.

Praise be to Allaah.

It is proven in the Qur’aan and Sunnah that
when a person dies, he will be called to account for every major and minor action he did in this world, whether it was good or bad. He will be
rewarded for his good deeds and punished for his bad deeds. The first stage of that reckoning is in the grave. In the grave the first thing a
person will be asked will be: Who was your Lord? What is your religion? Who is this man who was sent amongst you? – as was narrated in the hadeeth
of al-Baraa’ ibn ‘Aazib (may Allaah be pleased with him), which was narrated by Abu Dawood in his Sunan (4753) and classed as saheeh by
al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood, 2979.

Then on the Day of Resurrection he will be brought to account for every major and minor action,
even though he has already been brought to account for that in the grave. The first thing for which he will be brought to account for then will be
his prayer.

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the
Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The first thing among their deeds for which the people will be brought to account
on the Day of Resurrection will be prayer. Our Lord will say to His angels, although He knows best, ‘Look at My slave’s prayer, is it complete or
lacking?’ If it is complete, it will be recorded as complete, but if it is lacking, He will say, ‘Look and see whether my slave did any voluntary
(naafil) prayers.’ If he had done voluntary prayers, He will say, ‘Complete the obligatory prayers of My slave from his voluntary prayers.’ Then
the rest of his deeds will be examined in a similar manner.”

(Narrated by Abu Dawood, 864; classed as
saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood, 770).

On the Day of Resurrection, people will be
asked about other matters, including the following:

It was narrated from Ibn Mas’ood (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace
and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The son of Adam will not be dismissed from before his Lord on the Day of Resurrection until he has
been questioned about five things: his life and how he spent it, his youth and how he used it, his wealth and how he earned it and how he disposed
of it, and how he acted upon what he acquired of knowledge.”

(Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 2422; classed as
hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi, 1969)

And the nations will be asked on the Day of
Resurrection:

“What answer gave you to the Messengers?”

[al-Qasas 28:65 – interpretation of the
meaning]

These are some of the things about which
people will be asked on the Day of Resurrection. So the wise person who is keen to save himself should prepare answers to these questions. We ask
Allaah to guide us to the straight path.

And Allaah knows best.

The fate of kuffaar who did not hear the message of Islam

The fate of kuffaar who did not hear the message of Islam
Someone has asked me this question
(she is about to

become a muslimah). Her statement: 'A
lot of others will never meet a Muslim in person. Will they be held responsible for their
ignorance? What exactly does this mean: "After the revelation of the Quran who ever
receives this message & does not abide by it is a non-believer"?

i. Who is considered to have received
the message?

ii. Isn't it possible for people
to have not received the message even though the Quran is in existence?'

Praise be to Allaah.

It is part of the justice of Allaah that He does not punish any people
until He has first sent a warning to them and unless there is evidence against them.
Allaah does not treat anybody unfairly. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“… And We never punish until We have sent a Messenger (to give warning).”
[al-Israa’ 17:15].

In his tafseer (commentary) on this aayah, Ibn Katheer
(may Allaah have mercy on him) said: “These words, ‘…And We never punish
until We have sent a Messenger (to give warning)’ tell us of the justice of Allaah,
may He be exalted, and that He does not punish anyone until after He has established
evidence against him by sending a Messenger to him. This is like the aayat (interpretation
of the meaning): ‘… Every time a group is cast therein [into Hell], its keeper
will ask, “Did no warner come to you?” They will say, “Yes indeed; a warner
did come to us, but we belied him and said: ‘Allaah never sent down anything (of
revelation), you are only in great error.’”’ [al-Mulk 67:8] and: ‘And
those who disbelieved will be driven to Hell in groups, till, when they reach it, the
gates thereof will be opened (suddenly like a prison at the arrival of its prisoners). And
its keepers will say, “Did not the Messengers come to you from yourselves, - reciting
to you the Verses of your Lord, and warning you of the Meeting of this Day of yours?”
They will say: “Yes, but the Word of torment has been justified against the
disbelievers!”’ [al-Zumar 39:71]…”

A person who has never heard of Islam or the Prophet SAWS (peace and
blessings of Allaah be upon him), and who has never heard the message in its correct and
true form, will not be punished by Allaah if he dies in a state of kufr (disbelief). If it
were asked what his fate will be, the answer will be that Allaah will test him on the Day
of Resurrection: if he obeys, he will enter Paradise and if he disobeys he will enter
Hell. The evidence (daleel) for this is the hadeeth of al-Aswad ibn Saree’, who
reported that the Prophet of Allaah SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“There are four (who will protest) to Allaah on the Day of Resurrection: the deaf man
who never heard anything, the insane man, the very old man, and the man who died during
the fatrah (the interval between the time of ‘Eesaa (Jesus, upon whom be
peace) and the time of Muhammad SAWS (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)). The
deaf man will say, ‘O Lord, Islam came but I never heard anything.’ The insane
man will say, ‘O Lord, Islam came but the children ran after me and threw stones at
me.’ The very old man will say, ‘O Lord, Islam came but I did not understand
anything.’ The man who died during the fatrah will say, ‘O Lord, no
Messenger from You came to me.’ He will accept their promises of obedience, then word
will be sent to them to enter the Fire. By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad,
if they enter it, it will be cool and safe for them.”

According to another report, he said: “Whoever enters it, it will
be cool and safe for him, and whoever does not enter it will be dragged to it.” (The
hadeeth was reported by Imaam Ahmad and Ibn Hibbaan, and deemed saheeh by al-Albaani, Saheeh
al-Jaami’, 881).

Everyone who hears the message of Islam in a sound and
correct form (and rejects it), will have evidence aginst him. Whoever dies without having
heard the message, or having heard it in a distorted form, then his case is in the hands
of Allaah. Allaah knows best about His creation, and He will never treat anyone unfairly.
And Allaah is All-Seer of His slaves.

Three questions in the grave

Three questions in the grave
Can you please tell me what are the trials of the grave that we ask allah (saw) to save us from.

Praise be to Allaah.

Firstly:

When the son of Adam dies and his soul departs and he is
placed in his grave, then he is in the first stage of the Hereafter, because
the grave is the first of the stages of the Hereafter.

It was narrated that Haani’ the freed slave of ‘Uthmaan ibn
‘Affaan said: when ‘Uthman ibn ‘Affaan stood by a grave he would weep until
his beard became wet. It was said to him, “You remember Paradise and Hell
and you do not weep, but you weep because of this?” He said, “The Messenger
of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: ‘The grave
is the first of the stages of the Hereafter; whoever is saved from it,
whatever comes afterwards will be easier  for him, but if he is not saved
from it, what comes afterwards will be worse for him.’” And the Messenger of
Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “I have never
seen any scene but the grave is more frightening than it.” (Narrated by
al-Tirmidhi, 2308; Ibn Maajah, 4567; classed as hasan by al-Albaani in
Saheeh al-Jaami’, 1684).

Secondly:

The two angels who are charged with questioning come to him
and ask him what he used to believe in in this world, who was his Lord, what
was his religion and who was his Prophet. If he gives a good answer, that is
good, but if he does not answer them they inflict a severe and painful
beating on him.

If he was one of the righteous, angels with white faces come
to him, but if he was one of the evildoers, angels with dark faces come to
him. This is the fitnah or tribulation that he suffers.

It was narrated from ‘Aa’ishah that the Prophet (peace
and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to say, ‘Allaahumma inni
a’oodhu bika min al-kasali wa’l-haram wa’l-maghram wa’l-ma’tham. Allaahumma
inni a’oodhu bika min ‘adhaab al-naar wa fitnat
(O Allah! I seek refuge with You from laziness and old age, and from debts
and sins; from the torment of the Fire and from the tribulation of the Fire,
and from the tribulation of the grave and the torment of the grave, and from
the evil of the tribulation of wealth, and from the evil of the tribulation
of poverty, and from the evil of the tribulation of the Dajjaal
(Antichrist). O Allah! Wash away my sins with the water of snow and hail,
and cleanse my heart from sin as a white garment is cleansed from filth, and
put a great distance between me and my sins, as great as the distance You
have made between the East and the West).”

(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 6014).

Ibn Hajar said:

The phrase “from the tribulation of the grave” means the
questioning of the two angels.

Fath al-Baari, 11/177.

And al-Mubaarakfoori said:

“The tribulation of the
grave” means confusion when answering the two angels.

Tuhfat al-Ahwadhi, 9/328

Thirdly:

With regard to the questions that the angels will ask in the
grave, this is explained clearly in the following hadeeth:

It was narrated that al-Bara’ (may Allaah be pleased with
him) said: We went out with the Messenger of Allaah (peace and
blessings of Allaah be upon him) for the funeral of a man from among the
Ansaar. We came to the grave and when (the deceased) was placed in the lahd,
the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) sat
down and we sat around him, as if there were birds on our heads (i.e., quiet
and still). In his hand he had a stick with which he was scratching the
ground. Then he raised his head and said, “Seek refuge with Allaah from the
torment of the grave”, two or three times. Then he said, “When the believing
slave is about to depart this world and enter the Hereafter, there come down
to him from heaven angels with white faces like the sun, and they sit around
him as far as the eye can see. They bring with them shrouds from Paradise
and perfumes from Paradise. Then the Angel of Death comes and sits by his
head, and he says, ‘O good soul, come forth to forgiveness from Allaah and
His pleasure.’ Then it comes out easily like a drop of water from the the
mouth of a waterskin. When he seizes it, they do not leave it in his hand
for an instant before they take it and put it in that shroud with that
perfume, and there comes from it a fragrance like the finest musk on the
face of the earth. Then they ascend and they do not pass by any group of
angels but they say, ‘Who is this good soul?’ and they say, ‘It is So and so
the son of So and so, calling him by the best names by which he was known in
this world, until they reach the lowest heaven. They ask for it to be opened
to them and it is opened, and (the soul) is welcomed and accompanied to the
next heaven by those who are closest to Allaah, until they reach the seventh
heaven. Then Allaah says: ‘Record the book of My slave in ‘Illiyoon in the
seventh heaven, and return him to the earth, for from it I created them, to
it I will return them and from it I will bring them forth once again.’ So
his soul is returned to his body and there come to him two angels who make
him sit up and they say to him, ‘Who is your Lord?’ He says, ‘Allaah.’ They
say, ‘What is your religion?’ He says, ‘My religion is Islam.’ They say,
‘Who is this man who was sent among you?’ He says, ‘He is the Messenger of
Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).’ They say, ‘What
did you do?’ He says, ‘I read the Book of Allaah and I believed in it.’ Then
a voice calls out from heaven, ‘My slave has spoken the truth, so prepare
for him a bed from Paradise and clothe him from Paradise, and open for him a
gate to Paradise.’ Then there comes to him some of its fragrance, and his
grave is made wide, as far as he can see. Then there comes to him a man with
a handsome face and handsome clothes, and a good fragrance, who says,
‘Receive the glad tidings that will bring you joy this day.’ He says, ‘Who
are you? Your face is a face which brings glad tidings.’ He says, ‘I am your
righteous deeds.’ He says, ‘O Lord, hasten the Hour so that I may return to
my family and my wealth.’ But when the disbelieving slave is about to depart
this world and enter the Hereafter, there come down to him from heaven
angels with black faces, bringing sackcloth, and they sit around him as far
as the eye can see. Then the Angel of Death comes and sits by his head, and
he says, ‘O evil soul, come forth to the wrath of Allaah and His anger.’
Then his soul disperses inside his body, then comes out cutting the veins
and nerves, like a skewer passing through wet wool. When he seizes it, they
do not leave it in his hand for an instant before they take it and put it in
that sackcloth, and there comes from it a stench like the foulest stench of
a dead body on the face of the earth. Then they ascend and they do not pass
by any group of angels but they say, ‘Who is this evil soul?’ and they say,
‘It is So and so the son of So and so, calling him by the worst names by
which he was known in this world, until they reach the lowest heaven. They
ask for it to be opened to them and it is not opened.” Then the Messenger of
Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) recited
(interpretation of the meaning):

“for them the gates of heaven will not be opened, and they
will not enter Paradise until the camel goes through the eye of the needle”

[al-A’raaf 7:40]

He said: “Then Allaah
says, ‘Record the book of My slave in Sijjeen in the lowest earth, and
return him to the earth, for from it I created them, to it I will return
them and from it I will bring them forth once again.’ So his soul is cast
down.”  Then the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be
upon him) recited the verse (interpretation of the meaning):

“and whoever assigns partners to Allaah, it is as if he
had fallen from the sky, and the birds had snatched him, or the wind had
thrown him to a far off place”

[al-Hajj 22:31]

He said: “Then his soul
is returned to his body, and there come to him two angels who make him sit
up and they say to him, ‘Who is your Lord?’ He says, ‘Oh, oh, I don’t know.’
They say, ‘What is your religion?’ He says, ‘Oh, oh, I don’t know.’ Then a
voice calls out from heaven, ‘Prepare for him a bed from Hell and clothe him
from Hell, and open for him a gate to Hell.’ Then there comes to him some of
its heat and hot winds, and his grave is constricted and compresses him
until his ribs interlock. Then there comes to him a man with an ugly face
and ugly clothes, and a foul stench, who says, ‘Receive the bad news, this
is the day that you were promised.’ He says, ‘Who are you? Your face is a
face which forebodes evil.’ He says, ‘I am your evil deeds.’ He says, ‘O
Lord, do not let the Hour come, do not let the Hour come.’”

Narrated by Abu Dawood, 4753; Ahmad, 18063 – this version was
narrated by him. Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’,
1676.

The correct view is that the two angels will only question
the deceased in his grave about matters of Tawheed (monotheism) and ‘aqeedah (belief). This is quite clear.

And Allaah knows best.

Islam Q&A

Ruling on belief in reincarnation

Ruling on belief in reincarnation
I have a member of my family who believes in reincarnation which is a view i strongly oppose ,what (if there is ) is the muslim explanation behind this, as i wish to correct them (they have fallen from the faith and this may help)?

Praise be to Allaah.

What is
meant by reincarnation or the transmigration of souls is that when the body
dies, the soul moves to another body, where it will be happy or miserable as
the result of its previous actions, and thus it moves from one body to
another. This is one of the falsest of false beliefs, and one of the worst
forms of kufr or disbelief in Allaah, His Books and His Messengers. For
belief in the Hereafter, the Reckoning, Paradise and Hell are among the
things that are well-known in the teachings of the Messengers and in the
words of the Books which were revealed to them. Belief in reincarnation is
tantamount to disbelief in all of that.

The Islamic
understanding of the Resurrection is stated clearly in the Book of Allaah
and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon
him). For example, Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning]:

“Everyone
shall taste death. Then unto Us you shall be returned”

[al-‘Ankaboot
29:57]

“To Him
is the return of all of you. The Promise of Allaah is true. It is He Who
begins the creation and then will repeat it, that He may reward with justice
those who believed and did deeds of righteousness. But those who disbelieved
will have a drink of boiling fluids and painful torment because they used to
disbelieve”

[Yoonus
10:4]

“The Day
We shall gather the Muttaqoon (the pious) unto the Most Gracious (Allaah),
like a delegation (presented before a king for honour).

And We
shall drive the Mujrimoon (polytheists, sinners, criminals, disbelievers in
the Oneness of Allaah) to Hell, in a thirsty state (like a thirsty herd
driven down to water)” [Maryam 19:85-86]

“Verily,
He knows each one of them, and has counted them a full counting.

 And
everyone of them will come to Him alone on the Day of Resurrection (without
any helper, or protector or defender)”

[Maryam
19:94-95]

“Allaah!
Laa ilaaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). Surely,
He will gather you together on the Day of Resurrection about which there is
no doubt” [al-Nisa’ 4:87]

 “The
disbelievers pretend that they will never be resurrected (for the Account).
Say (O Muhammad): Yes! By my Lord, you will certainly be resurrected, then
you will be informed of (and recompensed for) what you did; and that is easy
for Allaah”

[al-Taghaabun
64:7]

 And there
are other clear and unambiguous verses.

 There are
innumerable references in the Sunnah which mention and confirm the
Resurrection, and give details concerning it. For example, the Prophet
(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “You will be resurrected
barefoot, naked and uncircumcised.” Then he recited (interpretation of the
meaning): “As We began the first creation, We shall repeat it. (It is) a
promise binding upon Us. Truly, We shall do it” [al-Anbiya’ 21:104].
(Then he said:) “And the first one to be clothed on the Day of Resurrection
will be Ibraaheem…” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3100; Muslim, 5104).

 And the
Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “In man there
is a bone which will not be consumed by the earth, and from it he will be
regenerated on the Day of Resurrection.” They asked, “What bone is that, O
Messenger of Allaah?” He said, “The tailbone.” (Narrated by Muslim, 5255).

 And he
said: “The sun will be brought close to mankind on the Day of Resurrection
until it will be as close to them as a meel.” Saleem ibn ‘Aamir [one
of the narrators of this hadeeth] said: “By Allaah, I do not know whether by
meel he meant a distance on land (a mile) or the stick with which
kohl is applied to the eyes. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah
be upon him) said: “Then the people will be submerged in sweat according to
their deeds; some with be in sweat up to their ankles, some up to their
knees, some up to their groin and some up to their jaws.” He said: and the
Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) pointed
to his mouth. (Narrated by Muslim, 5108).

 And he
said: “I will come to the gate of Paradise on the Day of Resurrection and
ask for it to be opened. The gatekeeper will ask, ‘Who are you?’ I will say:
‘Muhammad.’ He will say, ‘I was commanded not to open it for anyone before
you.’” (Narrated by Muslim, 292).

 And there
are other similar ahaadeeth.

 The idea of
the transmigration of souls is a rejection of these texts and a denial of
the Resurrection.

 The Islamic
teachings concerning torment or blessing in the grave and the questioning of
the two angels clearly prove that the soul of man does not move to another
body, rather it and the body experience torment or blessing, until mankind
will be gathered to their Lord.

 Imaam Ibn
Hazm (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: “It is sufficient refutation of
their idea to note that there is consensus among all Muslims that they are
kaafirs and that those who believe in this idea are following something
other than Islam, and that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah
be upon him) taught something other than this.” (al-Fasl fi’l-Milal
wa’l-Ahwa’ wa’l-Nihal, 1/166).

 The belief
that the body will perish and will not be restored to experience blessing or
punishment is a means that leads man to indulge in desires, wrongdoing and
evil. This is what the Shaytaan wants for those who follow this corrupt
belief, in addition to pushing them further in to kufr when he makes them
believe in this false idea.

 What you
must do is to advise this person and remind him of the words of Allaah and
the words of His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him),
and call him to repent from this kufr. If he repents and turns to Allaah,
all well and good, otherwise keep away from him and warn others against
listening to him, and tell people that you reject his beliefs, lest people
be deceived by him.

 And Allaah
knows best.

Is it true that the Day of Judgement will come on a Friday, 10th Muharram?

Is
it true that the Day of Judgement will come on a Friday, 10th
Muharram?
my question is with regards to
the day of judgement. from what i have read in the sahih(accurate) hadith
it is stated that the day of judgement will come on friday(10th
moharram). My question is if it is friday in saudi arabia then it will be
another day in USA and so on....so basically it is never friday all over
the world at one time...please answer, this has been troubling me for
sometime.

Praise be to Allaah.

Everyone
who gives a specific time or date for the onset of the Day of Judgement is
a fabricator and a liar. The onset of the Day of Resurrection is the
“Hour” of which Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

 “They
ask you about the Hour (Day of Resurrection): ‘When will be its
appointed time?’ Say: ‘The knowledge thereof is with my Lord (Alone).
None can reveal its time but He’” [al-A’raaf 7:187]

 But
when the Day of Resurrection comes, at the time which is known to Allaah,
which will be a Friday, then the system of this universe, with its night
and day, sun and moon and stars, will be changed. We do not know whether
the America which exists today will exist then or not, for Allaah is Able
to destroy whichever of these nations He wills before the Day of
Resurrection, for Allaah is Able to do all things.

Which angels take the soul of the Muslim, the angels of mercy or the angels of wrath?

Which angels take the soul of the Muslim, the angels of mercy or the angels of wrath?
If a Muslim who sins dies, is his soul taken by the angels of mercy or the angels of wrath? Please note that he prays, but he commits some sins such as looking at haraam things or listening to music.

May Allah reward you with good.

Praise be to Allaah.

Firstly:

The majority of
texts that speak of this matter divide people into two categories:

1.

Believers. The angels of mercy take their souls and lift them
up to heaven with great care, coming with glad tidings, calling them by the
most loved of their names, so they feel joy, blessing and happiness which
makes them steadfast.

2.

Disbelievers and hypocrites. The angels of wrath take their
souls, coming with harshness and warnings, and the gates of heaven are
closed in their faces, so they are thrown in the earth to face woe and
punishments as recompense for what they did in this world of wrongdoing,
disbelief and enmity.

Allah, may He be
glorified and exalted, mentioned that in the Holy Qur'aan, where He says
(interpretation of the meaning):

“By those
(angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with
great violence.

2. By those
(angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers).

3. And by those
that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits)”

[al-Naazi’aat
79:1-3].

Al-Haafiz ibn
Katheer (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

Ibn Mas’ood, Ibn
‘Abbaas, Masrooq, Sa’eed ibn Jubayr, Abu Saalih, Abu’l-Duha and al-Suddi
said: “By those who pull out” refers to the angels, i.e., when they
pull out the souls of the sons of Adam. There are some whose soul is taken
forcefully and they suffer when it is taken out, and there are some whose
soul is taken gently, which is referred to in the verse, “and those who
gently take out.” This was stated by Ibn ‘Abbaas.

It was also
narrated from Ibn ‘Abbaas that al-naazi’aat refers to the souls of
the disbelievers, which are taken out, then plunged into the Fire. This was
narrated by Ibn Abi Haatim. End quote.

Tafseer al-Qur’aan
al-Kareem,
8/312

Secondly:

There is fear for
the Muslim who commits sin or is an evildoer -- and what is meant is the one
who persists in committing major sins or transgresses against people and
dies in that state. To which of the two groups mentioned above does he
belong? Is his soul taken by the angels of mercy and treated in the same
manner as the believers, or is it taken by the angels of wrath and treated
in the same manner as the disbelievers?

This is a matter
of the unseen and we have not found any text that clearly and definitively
states the situation of the one who commits major sins.

But there are some
references that may indicate that the angels of wrath take the souls of
those who commit major sins. For example:

1.

The hadeeth about
the man who killed one hundred people, then he repented to Allah, may He be
glorified and exalted. When he died, the angels of mercy and the angels of
wrath disputed as to which of them would take his soul and take it up to
heaven. The story was narrated by Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri from the Prophet
(blessings and peace of Allah be upon him):

The angels of
mercy and the angels of torment disputed over him. The angels of mercy said:
he came repenting and turning wholeheartedly towards Allaah. The angels of
torment said: He never did anything good. Then an angel in the form of a man
came to them and they appointed him (to decide) between them. He said:
Measure the distance between the two lands, and whichever is closer, that is
where he belongs. So they measured it and they found that he was closer to
the land that he was heading for, so the angels of mercy took him.”

Narrated by al-Bukhaari
(3740) and Muslim (2766).

Think about how
the angels of wrath wanted to take the soul of this sinner who had killed
one hundred people. Were it not for the sincerity of his repentance, his
soul would have fallen to the share of the angels of wrath. So there is the
fear for all of those who commit major sins that the angels of wrath may
take their souls if they do not repent to Allah, may He be glorified and
exalted.

2.

There are many
hadeeths which describe how the angels come to take the soul of the one who
is dying and take it up to the highest heavens; these hadeeths compare and
contrast the situation of the believers and that of the disbelievers. In
some of these hadeeths it says al-faajir (evildoer) instead of al-kaafir
(disbeliever). And in some of them it describes him as al-rajul al-su’ (the
bad man). This may also indicate that the one who commits major sins is in
great danger in this regard.

It was narrated
from al-Bara’ ibn ‘Aazib (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet
(blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said -- in a lengthy hadeeth in
which he described the situation of the believer and the evildoer when their
souls are taken --:

“… as for the
evildoer, when he is about to enter the Hereafter and depart from this
world, the Angel of Death comes to him and sits by his head. There come down
to him angels from heaven with black faces, bringing with them sackcloth.
They sit with him as far as the eye can see. Then the Angel of Death and
says, ‘O evil soul, come out to the wrath and anger of Allaah…’ .

This was narrated
by al-Haakim in al-Mustadrak (1/93) and classed as saheeh by Shaykh
al-Albaani in Ahkaam al-Janaa’iz (no. 108). The hadeeth is also narrated in
al-Sunan. Ibn Tooloon compiled in his book al-Tahreer al-Mursakh fi
Ahwaal al-Barzakh (p. 75-112) the hadeeths and reports which speak of
this matter.

But if we say that
what is meant by the evildoer or the bad man in these reports is the
disbeliever who is mentioned in the other reports, then all the versions of
the hadeeth are in accordance, as seems to be the case. So that means that
there is nothing definite about Muslims who commit wrong actions and major
sins. And Allah knows best.

Shaykh al-Shanqeeti
(may Allah have mercy on him) said:

“Those whose
lives the angels take while they are in a pious state (i.e. pure from all
evil, and worshipping none but Allaah Alone) saying (to them): Salaamun
‘Alaikum (peace be on you) enter you Paradise, because of that (the good)
which you used to do (in the world)”

[al-Nahl 16:32
–interpretation of the meaning].

In this verse
Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, stated that the pious who obeyed the
commands of their Lord and avoided that which He forbade will have their
souls taken by the angels when they are in a good state, i.e., pure and free
of shirk and sin -- according to the soundest commentaries -- and they will
give them the glad tidings of Paradise and greet them with salaam..

This meaning is
also stated elsewhere, as in the verses in which Allah says (interpretation
of the meaning):

“Verily, those
who say: “Our Lord is Allaah (Alone),” and then they stand firm, on them the
angels will descend (at the time of their death) (saying): “Fear not, nor
grieve! But receive the glad tidings of Paradise which you have been
promised!”

[Fussilat
41:30]

“and its
keepers will say: Salaamun ‘Alaykum (peace be upon you)! You have done well,
so enter here to abide therein”

[al-Zumar
39:74]

“And angels
shall enter unto them from every gate (saying):

24. “Salâmun
‘Alaikum (peace be upon you) for you persevered in patience! Excellent
indeed is the final home!”

[al-Ra’d
13:23-24]

The glad tidings
are given at the time of death, and when they entered Paradise from one
gate, because they are glad tidings of good after moving to the Hereafter.

From the
description of those whose souls are taken when they are in a good state and
to whom it is said ‘ peace be upon you, enter Paradise,’ it may be
understood that those who are not described as pious will not be taken by
the angels in that noble state or be greeted or given glad tidings.

Allah has stated
this meaning elsewhere, such as in the verses where He says (interpretation
of the meaning):

“Those whose
lives the angels take while they are doing wrong to themselves (by disbelief
and by associating partners in worship with Allaah and by committing all
kinds of crimes and evil deeds).” Then, they will make (false) submission”

[al-Nahl
16:28]

“Verily, as for
those whom the angels take (in death) while they are wronging themselves (as
they stayed among the disbelievers even though emigration was obligatory for
them), they (angels) say (to them): ‘In what (condition) were you?’ They
reply: ‘We were weak and oppressed on the earth.’ They (angels) say: ‘Was
not the earth of Allaah spacious enough for you to emigrate therein?’ Such
men will find their abode in Hell — what an evil destination!”

[al-Nisa’
4:97]

“And if you
could see when the angels take away the souls of those who disbelieve (at
death); they smite their faces and their backs, (saying): “Taste the
punishment of the blazing Fire”

[al-Anfaal
8:50].

And there are
other similar verses. End quote from
Adwa’ al-Bayaan,
3/3

Perhaps it may be
said here -- and Allah knows best -- that the situation of those who commit
acts of disobedience and major sins, at the time of death, varies according
to their level of disobedience and obedience. For the person who is one of
those who affirm Tawheed and are good and righteous, they will have the glad
tidings and good situation that Allah has promised here, and that the one
who mixed good deeds with bad deeds will find himself in a mixed situation,
so he will be deprived of the glad tidings and good situation and merciful
treatment by the angels, according to his situation and deeds.

Ruling on the one who denies the Hereafter, and how to convince him

Ruling on the one who denies the Hereafter, and how to convince him
What is the ruling on one who denies the life of the Hereafter? How can we convince those who deny it?.

Praise be to Allaah.

The one who denies the life
of the Hereafter is a disbeliever, because Allaah says (interpretation of
the meaning):

“And they said: ‘There is
no (other life) but our (present) life of this world, and never shall we be
resurrected (on the Day of Resurrection).’

30. If you could but see
when they will be held (brought and made to stand) in front of their Lord!
He will say: ‘Is not this (Resurrection and the taking of the accounts) the
truth?’ They will say: ‘Yes, by our Lord!’ He will then say: ‘So taste you
the torment because you used not to believe’”

[al-An’aam 6:29-30]

“Woe, that Day, to those
who deny.

11. Those who deny the Day
of Recompense.

12. And none can deny it
except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and
disobedience to Allaah) the sinner!

13. When Our Verses (of
the Qur’aan) are recited to him, he says: ‘Tales of the ancients!’

14. Nay! But on their
hearts is the Raan (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to
earn.

15. Nay! Surely, they
(evil doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day.

16. Then verily, they will
indeed enter (and taste) the burning flame of Hell.

17. Then, it will be said
to them: ‘This is what you used to deny!’”

[al-Mutaffifeen 83:10-17]

“Nay, they deny the Hour
(the Day of Resurrection), and for those who deny the Hour, We have prepared
a flaming Fire (i.e. Hell)”

[al-Furqaan 25:11]

“And those who disbelieve
in the Ayaat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.)
of Allaah and the Meeting with Him, it is they who have no hope of My Mercy:
and it is they who will have a painful torment”

[al-‘Ankaboot 29:23].

As for convincing these
deniers, it may be done as follows:

Firstly:

There are abundant reports
concerning the issue of the resurrection from the Prophets and Messengers in
the books and religions of divine origin, which were accepted by those
nations. So how can you deny it when you believe in what was transmitted to
you from a philosopher or the author of a principle or idea, even though
what he tells you does not reach the level of authenticity reached the texts
that speak of the resurrection?

Secondly:

Reason attests to the
possibility of the resurrection, for several reasons:

1.
No
one can deny that he was created after having been nothing. The One Who
created him and brought him into being after he was nothing is Able to bring
him back again, as Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“And He it is Who
originates the creation, then He will repeat it (after it has been
perished); and this is easier for Him. His is the highest description (i.e.
none has the right to be worshipped but He, and there is nothing comparable
unto Him) in the heavens and in the earth. And He is the All‑Mighty, the
All‑Wise”

[al-Room 30:27]

“As We began the first
creation, We shall repeat it. (It is) a promise binding upon Us. Truly, We
shall do it”

[al-Anbiya’ 21:104]

2.
No
one denies the greatness of the creation of the heavens and the earth,
because of their vastness and the brilliance of their formation. The One Who
created them is able to create man, and recreating them is even easier for
Him. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“The creation of the
heavens and the earth is indeed greater than the creation of mankind”

[Ghaafir 40:57]

“Do they not see that
Allaah, Who created the heavens and the earth, and was not wearied by their
creation, is Able to give life to the dead? Yes, He surely is Able to do all
things”

[al-Ahqaaf 46:33]

“Is not He Who created the
heavens and the earth, Able to create the like of them? Yes, indeed! He is
the All‑Knowing Supreme Creator.

82. Verily, His Command,
when He intends a thing, is only that He says to it, ‘Be!’ ___ and it is!”

[Ya-Seen 36:81-82]

3.

Everyone who has insight can see the earth dry and dead, with no vegetation,
then when the rain falls on it, it flourishes and its vegetation comes to
life after being dead. The One Who is able to revive the earth after it was
dead is able to revive the dead and raise them up. Allaah says
(interpretation of the meaning):

“And among His Signs (is
this), that you see the earth barren, but when We send down water (rain) to
it, it is stirred to life and growth (of vegetations). Verily, He Who gives
it life, surely is Able to give life to the dead (on the Day of
Resurrection). Indeed He is Able to do all things”

[Fussilat 41:39].

Thirdly:

Reality bears witness to the
idea that the resurrection is possible. Events have been witnessed in which
the dead were brought back to life. In Soorat al-Baqarah, Allaah tells us of
five events, one of which is (interpretation of the meaning):

“Or like the one who
passed by a town and it had tumbled over its roofs. He said: ‘Oh! How will
Allaah ever bring it to life after its death?’ So Allaah caused him to die
for a hundred years, then raised him up (again). He said: ‘How long did you
remain (dead)?’ He (the man) said: ‘(Perhaps) I remained (dead) a day or
part of a day.’ He said: ‘Nay, you have remained (dead) for a hundred years,
look at your food and your drink, they show no change; and look at your
donkey! And thus We have made of you a sign for the people. Look at the
bones, how We bring them together and clothe them with flesh.’ When this was
clearly shown to him, he said, ‘I know (now) that Allaah is Able to do all
things’”

[al-Baqarah 2:259].

Fourthly:

Wisdom dictates that there
should be the tesurrection after death so that each soul may be requited
according to what it has earned. Were it not for that, the creation of
mankind would be in vain, with no value or wisdom behind it, and there would
be no difference between mankind and the animals in this life. Allaah says
(interpretation of the meaning):

“Did you think that We had
created you in play (without any purpose), and that you would not be brought
back to Us?”

116. So Exalted be Allaah,
the True King: La ilaaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but
He), the Lord of the Supreme Throne!”

[al-Mu’minoon 23:115, 116]

“Verily, the Hour is
coming __ and I am almost hiding it __that every person may be rewarded for
that which he strives”

[Ta-Ha 20:15]

“And they swear by Allaah
their strongest oaths, that Allaah will not raise up him who dies. Yes, (He
will raise them up), __ a promise (binding) upon Him in truth, but most of
mankind know not.

39. In order that He may
make manifest to them the truth of that wherein they differ, and that those
who disbelieved (in Resurrection, and in the Oneness of Allaah) may know
that they were liars.

40. Verily, Our Word unto
a thing when We intend it, is only that We say unto it: ‘Be!’ — and it is”

[al-Nahl 16:38-40]

“The disbelievers pretend
that they will never be resurrected (for the Account). Say (O Muhammad
صلى الله عليه وسلم): ‘Yes! By my Lord,
you will certainly be resurrected, then you will be informed of (and
recompensed for) what you did; and that is easy for Allaah’”

[al-Taghaabun 64:7]

If this proof has been
explained to those who deny the resurrection and they persist in denying it,
then they are arrogant and stubborn, and those who do wrong will come to
know by what overturning they will be overturned (cf.al-Shu’ara 26:227). End
quote.
